Johnnie S. Jernigan, Mountaire retiree

Mr. Johnnie S. Jernigan, 88, of Frankford passed away in the care of his family Wednesday, July 11, 2018. 

Mr. Jernigan was born in Midway, Ala., Jan. 29, 1930, to the late Timothy and Susan Moore Jernigan. He worked for Mountaire Farms as a management supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 1995.

Johnnie loved sightseeing, hunting, gardening, and was an avid collector of cans and restoration of old junk. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Betty Helen Feddiman Jernigan of Frankford; six children: Herman Jernigan of Millsboro, Anna Mae Jernigan of Frankford, Jerome Jernigan of Dagsboro, Helen Custis of Seaford, Vanessa Jernigan Purnell (William) of Millsboro, and Allison Jernigan of Frankford. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, July 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon for viewing and visitation. Apostle Larry Morris will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Zoar Golden Acres, Bishopville, Md.
