Joseph 'Joe' Cashmareck, had caring heart

Joseph "Joe" Jude Cashmareck, 72, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family the evening of Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born in Shamokin, Pa. Aug. 22, 1943, son of the late Stanley and Hilda (Tretter) Cashmareck.

Joe graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Shamokin, where he played football. He studied business and accounting at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington. Throughout his life, Joe was a self-employed contractor serving both Pennsylvania and Delaware areas. Joe’s work was his passion which allowed him to help people who were in need. He finally retired in 2013.

In 1987, Joe with his family relocated to Rehoboth Beach to enjoy a slower pace of life. As an avid sports fan, Joe loved going to all sporting events, especially to his grandchildren's games. He was a football enthusiast and a lover of all animals. Joe will be remembered for his caring heart and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Catherine "Mitzi" Cashmareck (Matzura); a son, Christopher Cashmareck and his wife Debbie of Kingwood, Texas; a daughter, Laurie Ann Driskill of Rehoboth Beach; six grandchildren: Christopher Cashmareck Jr., William Cashmareck and his wife Dawn, Amanda Cashmareck, Michael Cashmareck, Catherine Driskill and Alec Driskill; one great-granddaughter, Campbell Jane; a sister-in-law, Theresa Matzura Berry and her husband Dr. Theodore; and a brother-in-law, Robert Matzura and his wife Delores.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
