Joseph Marion Lukaszewski, proud veteran

February 1, 2023

Joseph "Joe" Marion Lukaszewski, 88, of Georgetown, passed away at home Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023. He was born Jan.  23, 1935, in Stamford, Conn., son of the late Alexander and Angela (Bzonkiewicz) Lukaszewski.

Joe was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked for many years for FLYGT ITT in the shipping department. A man of strong faith, Joe regularly attended church services. For several years, he was a member of Professional Bowlers Association, with which he participated successfully in tournaments throughout the country. Joe had many interests and hobbies, including collecting coins and taking his dog to read to children at local schools and libraries, an activity he most enjoyed. He could often be found watching the UCONN girls’ basketball games, always cheering for his favorite team. Above everything else, Joe loved his family and the time spent with them. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. Loved by all who knew him, he will be forever missed.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Riley Lukaszewski of Georgetown; his daughter, Laureen Lukaszewski of Derby, Conn.; and his beloved Airedale terrier, Annie.
