Joseph Robert Wright Jr., Navy Yard retiree

Mr. Joseph Robert Wright Jr. of Millsboro passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in the care of his family and VITAS Hospice.

Mr. Wright was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Joseph Robert Wright Sr. and Ruth Cole Wright.  In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, John Wright.

Joseph retired from the Philadelphia Navy Yard where he worked as a planner and estimator.  He was an Army veteran who served our country during the Korean War.  Joe was a member of the Nanticoke Indian Association and Indian Mission United Methodist Church in Harbeson.  He loved to travel, read and was a history buff.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years,  Lizzella Lynch Wright of Millsboro; three children: Susan Fawzy of Sicklerville, N.J., Joel Wright of Broad Run, Va., and David Wright of Pine Hill, N.J.  He is also survived by two grandchildren, Amanda Fawzy and Zeke Fawzy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Indian Mission U.M. Church, 22701 Indian Mission Road, Harbeson.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Nanticoke Indian Association Scholarship Fund, 27073 John J. Williams Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966.
