Joyce A Gresco, the ultimate volunteer

Joyce A Gresco, 82, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, with her husband Daniel by her side.

Joyce was born in Garwood, N.J., June 27, 1936, along with her twin brother Joseph.  Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Marian (Brittian) and Joseph Esposito; and her brother Joseph.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Daniel Gresco; as well as her daughter Lisa Anne Fitzgerald her husband Richard, and their children Matthew, Katie, and Anne of Peach Tree City, Ga.  She is also survived by her son John Gresco and wife Kristan, with children Patricia, Emily, Thomas, Andrew, Mary Kate, Grace and Daniel, all of Howell, N.J.  Also surviving is Joyce’s sister Marian Degrassi and her husband Al of Millsboro; nephews Douglas and Rick, and niece Cindy all of Pottsville, Pa.

After grammar school in Garwood, Joyce graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield, N.J., in 1954.

During her career she worked seven years as an engineering secretary at Wadell Equipment Company followed by a 12-year break to raise her loving family.  She then continued her career as a guidance secretary at Union Catholic High School in South Plains, N.J., until she retired and moved to Lewes in 1999. 

Joyce was an incessant volunteer, serving others all of her life.  She was president of the Clark, N.J. PTA for many years.  During her retirement she volunteered untold hours at the Beebe Medical Center gift shop in Lewes, generously offering her time as a buyer, as well as manager and cashier.  She also volunteered at the front desk of the Cape Henlopen Senior Center.

Joyce loved the beach “sea and sand,” her flower gardens, and using her special talents to decorate her home as a showplace for the various seasons and holidays.  But most of all, she loved her husband Dan, her children, grandchildren and friends.  Dios sea contigo, Joyce!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Interment will be private.

Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 3 to 6 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth DE 19971, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
