Community Bank Delaware is marking its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of local ownership, steady growth and commitment to serving the people and businesses of Sussex County.

Community Bank Delaware was formed in 2006 by a group of local businessmen and -women who shared a vision to establish a local, independent community bank dedicated to meeting the financial needs of Sussex County.

The bank officially launched its first branch June 5, 2006, in Lewes. Continued growth followed with the opening of the Rehoboth Beach branch in 2007, and most recently, the Long Neck and Seaford branches in 2025.

“When we founded Community Bank Delaware 20 years ago, our goal was simple – build a bank that belongs to Sussex County,” said Alexander J. Pires Jr., chair and CEO.

Each year, the bank donates a portion of its net profits to local charities and nonprofit organizations, reinforcing the founders' belief that strong communities are built through shared investment and services. Community Bank Delaware remains committed to providing personalized financial support and personal engagement tailored to the needs and challenges of Sussex County residents.
