Juanita June Johnson Quint (Pete) of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Avow Hospice, Naples, surrounded by her entire family.

Pete was born March 3, 1934, in Rehoboth Beach. She was raised there and graduated from Rehoboth High School (1952), and the University of Delaware with a master’s of education (1975). She met the love of her life, Donald E. Quint, while he was stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard base in Lewes. They married Sept. 4, 1955, in Rehoboth Beach. After retirement, Pete and Don became Rehoboth Beach/Naples “snowbirds,” and become permanent residents of Naples in 1998.

They were lifelong members of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, and active members of North Naples United Methodist Church in Naples. She continued her education, allowing her to expand, revise, and improve the program’s curriculum, earning her 60-plus credit hours in addition to her master’s degree.

During her involvement with the PAT program, she mentored many teams competing in Delaware’s Odyssey of the Mind competition. Several of her teams advanced to the world finals, with one of her teams taking home the title of World Champions. She was the president of Delta Kappa Gamma professional education fraternity and a member of the Delaware Education Association.
