July 21 Lewes farmers market moved to Shields parking lot

Kids’ Day activities rescheduled for July 28
July 18, 2018

Due to the weather forecast, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market will celebrate Kids’ Day from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, July 28, starting with planting a tree donated by the HLFM. More fun will follow with story time, bocce instruction, a scavenger hunt with prizes, and healthy snacks for kids.

When it is raining, the market moves to Shields Elementary School parking lot at the corner of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive. For more information, go to www.historiclewesfarmersmarket.org or call 302-644-1436.

The HLFM Wednesday Outdoor Market at Crooked Hammock Brewery is also open from 8 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday with an expanded number of vendors at Crooked Hammock Way and Kings Highway in Lewes.

The market continues its SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the Market. For Kids’ Day, the market will give each child with a parent showing an EBT card $5 in market Bonus Bucks to purchase fruits and vegetables of their choice.

WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons are also accepted at both the Saturday and Wednesday markets.

Ample parking can be found at the Shields Elementary School and Lewes School parking lots at the intersection of Savannah Road and Sussex Drive, a short walk to the market. A veggie valet service is available to help customers carry heavy items to their cars. This service is located outside the HLFM Information Tent.
