June "Junebug" Strohman, 83, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026.

Born Jan. 6, 1943, in Lewes, she was the daughter of Thomas E. Dirks and Lillian Dirks, and grew up alongside her many siblings, Timothy K. Dirks, Thomas Dirks, Michael Dirks, Hugo Dirks, Peter Dirks, Larry Dirks, Isabella Mayfield, Rena Johnson and Clara Ebert. June was the beloved wife of Bernard "Jim" Strohman; devoted mother of Torrie Mitchell, Keith Strohman and Tamara Daniels; proud grandmother of Ashlee Miller, James Miller, Andy Strohman and Cooper Strohman; and cherished great-grandmother of Aiden McGuire, Ashlynn Bowling, Ashton Young and Meleah Miller. Her world centered around her family.

After attending culinary school, June worked as a chef and restaurant operator before building a life and family in Ohio. Known affectionately as "Junebug," she was fiercely loyal, wonderfully funny, deeply caring and never missed a chance to find humor in the moment. She loved word search puzzles, feeding the birds and other backyard visitors, and spending time with those she loved. Family and friends will remember June for her humor, empathy and joyful spirit. As many of her doctors observed in her later years, she remained a "jovial woman in good spirits." Her presence made ordinary days brighter.
