The Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre will present free public performances of the classic stories of  “The Jungle Book” as its community outreach tour this season.

Adapting Rudyard Kipling’s fanciful tales of India, shows kick off  Tuesday, July 14, with performances at 10:30 a.m. at Milton Public Library, and 2 p.m. at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, hosted by the Rehoboth Beach library. Shows continue through 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at the Corbit-Calloway Library in Odessa.

"The Jungle Book" tells of a young boy lost in a dense Indian jungle. The kindly old wolf Akela and the steadfast bear Baloo find him and vow to protect Mowgli, the "man cub," from the tiger Shere Khan.

Adding to the fun are Tabaqui the hyena, Bandar the monkey, Kaa the snake and Bagheera the panther. Through a series of adventures and misadventures, Mowgli finally returns to the village, treasuring the lessons he has learned in the jungle.

Two actors play all the characters in a delightful 45-minute show.

Bringing “The Jungle Book” to life is the summer resident team of Becky Fleckner and Jed Krivisky, RSCT’s 2026 actors in residence. Lightning-quick costume changes and a lively sense of humor are the hallmarks of this family-fun show.

"The Jungle Book" is one of more than 30 shows created by RSCT founders Elise and Steve Seyfried.

All "The Jungle Book" performances this season are free and open to the public. However, some locations may require registration or advance tickets. Families should check ahead before attending.
