Just stay put in sunny California

September 10, 2021

In response to Dave Heventhal of Sonoma County, Calif., who writes: “Sad that ignorant American propaganda permeates such a nice area of the USA as Lewes.  I may have to rethink a relocation here.”  Please do.

My new wife and I spent two weeks in coastal California back in April.  We found the general conditions to be downright depressing and often scary.  Most of the time we chose to stay holed up in the beautiful cliffhanger condo which we had rented at Big Sur.

We could hardly wait to return to our beautiful, unique City of Lewes - a place where infrastructure is intact and up-to-date.  A place where beauty is everywhere and homeless people begging on the streets are nonexistent.  In fact, we were so tired of being constantly harassed by street dwellers that we tried to return early, but couldn’t get a flight.  I can certainly see why Mr. Heventhal wants out.  My brother lives in Phoenix and constantly comments about the influx of Californians to the Valley of the Sun, and the huge political shifts taking place there as a result.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I am fully vaccinated, I think everyone who is medically able should be, and I didn’t vote for Trump in either of his runs for POTUS.  (Thankfully, I didn’t vote for Biden either.)
