Kathy Marie Boyce, force of nature

April 28, 2021

On Friday April 23, 2021, we lost a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a great friend to all, Kathy Marie Boyce.  Kathy, known as “Trink,” passed away suddenly at her Baywood Greens home.  She was born in 1948 to Joseph and Irene Haney in Wilmington.

Kathy graduated from Claymont High School, where she excelled in basketball.  Later she attended the Capital City School of Nursing, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.  “Hiney,” as she was known, kept in touch with Parker and her beloved classmates from her time in nursing school.

Kathy moved to Delaware, but her heart never left Washington, D.C.  She loved her Redskins, Capitals and Nationals.  Her heart was also with her beloved pinochle players, whom she adored.

Kathy was the biggest, most caring, fun force of nature we have ever known. She has now been set free and is sitting up on a cloud with her previously passed loved ones, looking down at us with her Diet Coke in one hand, and wearing her Redskins jacket.  Kathy loved all her kids and would give anything to her four grandchildren.  She now has a better perch from up high to keep an eye on us.  In Kathy’s parting words, “GO SKINS!” and “Please turn up the air conditioning!”

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Doughton.  She is survived by her beloved children: Keri Boyce of Lewes, Michael Boyce of Portland, Ore., Kaden Boyce at home, Christian “Kippy” Boyce (Mel) of Minnesota, and Kacey Boyce of Northern Virginia.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Please visit Kathy’s Life Memorial Webpage and sign her virtual guestbook at www.parsellfuneralhomes.com.
