Kenneth Gordon Pyle, insurance adjuster

Kenneth Gordon Pyle, 91, previously of Rehoboth Beach, passed away in Hanover, Pa., surrounded by his loving family, Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, after a long battle with kidney disease.

Ken was born July 8, 1927, in Aberdeen, Md., to parents Harry and Mary Pyle. He graduated from Aberdeen High School and Penn State, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for two years in Alaska during the end of World War II.

He married Fannie Mozell Richardson Dec. 27, 1952, in Aberdeen. Ken worked as an adjuster for Nationwide Insurance for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986 to spend time with family and friends. He served the Severna Park and Rehoboth Beach Lions Clubs in various executive capacities over the course of his retirement. He was always an avid fisher and enjoyed bird watching, coin collecting, gardening, and touring the country in his motorhome with his family.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Jane Whyte; and his brothers: Sterling and Donald Pyle.  He is survived by his wife Fannie Mozell Pyle of Hanover; grandsons: Jesse Whyte of Baltimore, Md., and Kris Whyte of Lexington, Ky.; great-grandson, Declan Ryder Whyte of Lexington; nephew, Stephen Pyle of Hanover; and nieces: Sharon Todd of Wilmington and Donna Marie Pyle of Aberdeen.

A funeral service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach,  at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 26, with a wake to follow. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rehoboth Beach Lions Club, PO Box 291, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
