Kevin Lynn Wade, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 16, 2026. He was born in Reading, Pa., to Dorothy and William Wade.
Kevin graduated from Reading High School and continued his education at Penn State Berks before earning his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from University of Delaware.
Kevin’s professional and family life were filled with exciting adventures. He began his engineering career by accepting his first professional position with DuPont and relocating to Delaware in 1974. Creative and entrepreneurial by nature, Kevin eventually founded his own engineering consulting firm specializing in control systems, where he built a respected career and lasting community presence.
While returning from one of his many business trips on a shuttle bus, Kevin met the love of his life, Gail. They married in 1978 and began a lifetime of adventures together. Over the years, Kevin and Gail shared countless travels with family and dear friends, creating memories across the country and beyond. Kevin embraced life fully and never stopped exploring. In March 2026, he completed what became his final and perhaps most meaningful journey – returning with Gail to the place where they had honeymooned 48 years earlier.
Family was Kevin’s greatest joy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. His daughter, Lauren, and his three grandchildren, Keira, Owen and Grayson, were among his greatest blessings. Together, the family traveled by car, plane, train and ship to all but two U.S. states. Kevin especially loved sharing history and experiences with his grandchildren through those travels.
In his later years, Kevin enjoyed engaging with his community through talk radio, sharing his perspectives and listening to the voices of others. He believed strongly in contributing to conversations about community, country and faith.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Gail Holland Wade; daughter, Lauren Haley Wade (Anton Kolodziej); grandchildren, Keira, Owen and Grayson; sister, JoAnne Wade Pepe; brother, Gary Wade (Gale Wade); and sister, Cheryl McCallum.
