Kids’ Ketch in Lewes joins ASTRA nationwide celebration Nov. 10

November 4, 2018

Lewes’ own Kids’ Ketch will be one of hundreds of retailers across the country celebrating Neighborhood Toy Store Day Saturday, Nov. 10. Spearheaded by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, the annual observance asks shoppers to remember the neighborhood toy stores in their communities as they kick off the holiday shopping season. Scheduled ahead of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, the day offers shoppers raffles, special events and hands-on experiences with children’s toys.

“ASTRA initiated Neighborhood Toy Store Day nine years ago to celebrate community, showcase the value of shopping local, and celebrate the joy of play,” said Kimberly Mosley, president of ASTRA. “These retailers are how the toy industry began and where customers can create special memories with their families in the wake of the closing of Toys ‘R’ Us. In neighborhood toy stores, shoppers can find a high-quality, carefully curated selection of the best toys and games along with an exceptional and personal customer shopping experience.”

Residents of Lewes and the surrounding area can join in the national event at Kids’ Ketch, located at 132 2nd St. in downtown Lewes. The store will offer crafts to make, games to play and raffles for exciting prizes. Special events include fun with Chuck-less the Pirate and his balloon creations from 10 a.m. to noon, and a book signing from 1 to 3 p.m., with Ilona Holland, author of the new local book, “The Lost Locket of Lewes.”  For more information, customers can contact the store directly at 302-645-8448 or info@kidsketch.com.

“Kids’ Ketch is proud to be a member of the Sussex County community. We have had our store here in Lewes for 28 years, and have put together family-friendly activities we think residents will enjoy for Neighborhood Toy Store Day,” says Teresa Ford, owner of Kids’ Ketch. “We look forward to celebrating our local business and helping everyone find the perfect gift for the children in their lives.”  A percentage of the proceeds from the day will benefit Clothing Our Kids, an organization that provides school clothing to Sussex County children in need.  Donations of $1 or more to Clothing Our Kids entitling customers to spin the Wheel of Wow for prizes.
