Kimberly Hoffman leads women’s heart health campaign team
Kimberly Hoffman, Esq., a partner at the statewide law firm of Morris James, LLP, has been leading a spirited team of volunteers to organize, educate and fundraise to realize the mission of the Go Red for Women movement: supporting awareness, research, education and community programs to benefit women in Delaware. Hoffman is serving as chair for the American Heart Association’s 2019 Wilmington Go Red For Women program.
Go Red encourages every woman to take charge of her heart health and combat the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of American women, heart disease and stroke.
“I have been inspired by the work of the American Heart Association and Go Red For Women. The 2019 Executive Leadership Team is stellar, and we are on track to make this the most successful year yet,” said Hoffman. “The women of Delaware deserve quality healthcare, access to healthy foods, and safe streets, which work preventatively to reduce the number of people who suffer from cardiovascular disease. Cardiac and stroke research advances, raised awareness and lifestyle changes saved my dad, and in the last few months, two colleagues! I look forward to spreading the word to Delaware women and funding more transformative research and legislative changes in the First State.”
The Go Red Executive Leadership Team includes Laura A. Kowal, MPT, JD, Delaware Valley chief legal officer, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital; Lenaye Lawyer, MD, market chief medical officer, AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware; Casey Wells, senior managing director, Accenture; Frances West, director at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware; Charles Tomlinson Jr., vice president, Today Media; and Jeffrey Miles, manager, Exelon Utilities - Delmarva Power.
In her professional career at Morris James, Hoffman uses her 20 years of legal experience to serve as lead counsel in real estate, healthcare and government relations matters.
Morris James has represented the American Heart Association’s legislative agenda in Dover with T21, a measure to raise the legal age to purchase tobacco products to 21, recently passed in the Senate and going on to the House. “I’m proud to represent the American Heart Association as it works to improve the social determinates of health for Delawareans, one bill at a time,” said Hoffman.

The American Heart Association raises funds from local and national Go Red For Women activities to support awareness, research, education and community programs to benefit women. Unfortunately, only 55 percent of women realize heart disease is their No. 1 killer, and less than half know what are considered healthy levels for cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure and cholesterol.
The Go Red For Women movement works to make sure women know they are at risk so they can take action to protect their health. A full 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle modifications.
