King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-Off slated for Sept. 27

At Milton Fire Hall
August 10, 2018

The Milton Historical Society’s 2018 King Cole Cannery Celebrity Chef Cook-Off will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Milton Fire Hall.

This year, chefs will prepare culinary creations featuring vegetables and fruits that would have been canned at the former King Cole Cannery in Milton, as well as chicken or beef from area producers Allen Harim and the Butcher Block.

Guests will enjoy sampling the creations of the celebrity chefs and then vote to determine the winner of the people’s choice award. Celebrity judges will also be on hand to determine the critic’s choice. For some added spice, the evening will include music, the King Cole Celebrity Raffle and a cash bar. Tickets are $45 for nonmembers and at the door. MHS members pay $35 for tickets purchased before Friday, Sept. 21. Tickets are limited to the first 200 paid.

A highlight is the chance to win one of the raffle baskets themed to capture a variety of tastes and interests. Locals like Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor, 302 Fitness and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, along with Wilmington attractions including Delaware Theatre Co., Hagley Museum and more will have baskets up for raffle. All baskets are valued at over $150. Raffle tickets cost $10 each, or eight for $50 and may be purchased in advance or at the event. Winners do not need to be present to win but must be available to pick up their prize from the Milton Historical Society by Thursday, Oct. 4.

All proceeds support the Milton Historical Society’s programs, walking tours, lectures, new exhibits and a wide variety of educational programs for local children.
