Kody’s Kids marks 20 years of promoting reading and health

April 14, 2021

Nonprofit organization Kody’s Kids Inc. is celebrating its 20th year of promoting reading and healthy habits to preschool, kindergarten and early elementary students in Sussex County.

Founder Philip Brown said it has been an amazing and rewarding journey. Much of its success can be attributed to a remarkable team of volunteer teachers and advisory members, as well as the support received from the community, individuals and businesses.

With the objective of helping children develop a passion for learning and for pursuing healthy lifestyles, Kody’s Kids volunteers have had the joy to work with thousands of students of all abilities over the years.

During the past year, when it was not possible to reach students in person by visiting classrooms or libraries, Kody’s Kids adapted to fill the void by creating an online version of Reading with Kody O’Bear Classroom. Hosted by Kody’s Kids reading ambassador Kody O’Bear, the video series contains storybook readings and related activity sheets. Brown said the organization needed to be creative, and the reading classroom has allowed its mission to continue and grow.

Kody’s Kids celebrates this milestone, and its volunteers look forward to many more years of inspiring future generations.
