Koretta Adelia Prettyman, woman of many talents

January 23, 2023

Koretta Adelia Prettyman, 89, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.

Koretta lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel and explored many countries with her mother Esther and brother Jimmy. Koretta also loved Lewes Beach, spending many weekends there with her family. She was very athletic, and enjoyed years of playing tennis and golf.  Her abilities won her many trophies.

Koretta graduated from Georgetown High School, attended William and Mary College, and later pursued cosmetology.  She started her career in Georgetown and then opened up her own salon at home.

She was a woman of many talents. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothes and curtains. She was also a talented artisan. She caned chairs, hung wallpaper and upholstered furniture. She especially loved searching for antiques and refinishing furniture. This love led to the ownership of Fox Run Antiques.

Koretta is preceded in death by her daughter Dian E. Hudson; mother Esther Prettyman; father William Prettyman III; brother William Prettyman IV; sisters Annabelle Wollaston and Patricia Ingram; and longtime companion George Minnick. She is survived by her brother, James (Jimmy) Prettyman and his partner Yost Bonham; children, Debbie Donaway (Greg) and Mark Hudson (Melanie); grandchildren, Adrienne Donaway, Erica Donaway, Samantha Ewing (Taylor) and Nick Hudson; great-grandson, Brooks Ewing; nieces, Esther-Ann Ingram, Marlene Lusk (Jeff) and Victoria Wollaston; nephew, Richard Ingram (Nancy); and great-niece, Rebecca Hurlock (Matt).

Koretta was blessed to have been cared for by her wonderful caregivers Glenda, Wendy and Angie for the last years of her life. We are forever grateful for the love and care they gave.

Visitation with the family will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at Harbeson United Methodist Church, 18647 Harbeson Road, Harbeson, with services to follow at noon.
