In June, KSI’s board of directors selected new officers to help the organization continue improving programming capacity and quality for Delawareans with disabilities during the next fiscal year.

Dr. Donna Smith-Moore was named chair. An adjunct faculty and doctoral dissertation committee member with Wilmington University, Smith-Moore is also the outreach and education coordinator for Senior Medicare Patrol. She offers the board an extensive background in marketing and communications, as well as innovative leadership.

Travis Frey takes on the responsibilities of vice chair. Frey is chief technology and security officer with Dover Federal Credit Union, where he manages cultural, operational and managerial change by leveraging technology solutions to improve the customer experience. In addition to a 20-year financial background, he also has certifications in disaster recovery and network security.

Keith Kahn was named treasurer. A certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner with Faw Casson in Dover, Kahn is skilled at working with nonprofit organizations in financial services and tax compliance.

Dr. Bobbi Barends maintains her position as secretary. Barends is vice president and campus director of the Delaware Technical Community College Jack F. Owens Campus. Her career has included oversight of marketing and public relations, fundraising and grant writing, and program development. She also serves as a court-appointed special advocate for Sussex County children in foster care.

KSI staff are honored to have these well-respected community and business members as part of its organizational leadership. Their contributions of expertise and energy help better the lives of people with varied abilities.

KSI is a private, nonprofit agency providing training and employment services to individuals with disabilities in Kent and Sussex counties since 1962.
