Kudos to Phelps and Claire DeMatteis

June 14, 2019

I have had the pleasure of being acquainted for decades with current Delaware Department of Correction Commissioner Perry Phelps and also with his upcoming successor, Claire DeMatteis.

As the former statewide Delaware DOC Prison Arts Program director for almost 15 years, our paths had crossed many times. In my opinion, both folks have been exceptional professional leaders.

My thanks to Gov. John Carney for his acceptance of Commissioner Phelps’ well-deserved retirement from that high pressure job and for his nominating a top-notch replacement such as Claire DeMatteis.
