Latest questions on COVID-19 predicament

May 22, 2020

The state is no longer publishing the same daily report that graphs the day-to-day progress of the COVID-19 virus. If it did, you would see a steadily rising line representing each day’s new cases. There is a modified chart that you have to dig a little to find. I wonder why they have buried that data. On May 19, the state reported 168 new cases since the day before.

St. Peter’s in Lewes needs to be applauded for cancelling its July art show. I don’t know if they’ve ever cancelled it before. It’s their major annual fundraising event. God bless them for putting our safety over everything else. They deserve all the support they can get.

The truth is, the daily amount of new plague cases in Delaware has not stopped growing. Yet, we are reopening the state. I pray we don’t need to close again in a few weeks because we have opened prematurely. I pray we will not have blown what we accomplished with closure and have to start all over.

Sussex County has the highest number of positive new cases in the state. It used to be third behind New Castle and Kent counties. Meanwhile, the national death toll is expected to reach 100,000 by June 1. Meanwhile, we still don’t have a program in place to test everybody.
