October 9, 2018

Immaculata University announced that incoming freshman Laura Markofski has been selected for the Presidential Scholarship. The scholarship amount is equal to annual full-time undergraduate tuition. Markofski resides in Lewes, and she graduated from Cape Henlopen High School.

The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to a select number of students with a record of academic excellence. Students are evaluated on the basis of GPA (students must maintain a 3.25 GPA), class rigor, standardized test scores, class rank, and recommendations.

During high school, Markofski was a member of the National Honor Society, Leo Club and Green Club. She also swam on the varsity swim team. Markofski is majoring in exercise science with a pre-occupational therapy concentration, and will attend Thomas Jefferson University starting her senior year to complete her master’s degree and doctorate in occupational therapy.

“The moment I found out that I was awarded with this scholarship, I was filled with joy,” she said. “I couldn’t have been happier. I thank my teachers for pushing me beyond my limits, and I also thank my mom for giving me the best advice in order to succeed and do well in life.”

Immaculata is a Catholic, coeducational institution of higher learning.
