Lefty’s hosts fundraiser for Parkinson’s group

November 24, 2017

Members of the Parkinson's Education and Support Group of Sussex County and their families, friends and neighbors gathered at Lefty's Alley and Eats in Lewes Nov. 3 for Strike Out Parkinson's. At the event, the group and their supporters bowled, had a meal or two and bid on items at a silent auction. The event was co-sponsored by Rise Fitness and Adventure, and proceeds will be used to defray the costs of specialized exercise classes taught in Sussex County.

The group would like to thank the following businesses that supported this event: Active Life Acupuncture, Beebe Medical Center, Bethany Blues, Christiana Hospital Visiting Nurses, Coastal Flooring, DecalGirl, EH Custom Homes, Fulton Bank, Griswold Home Care, JWH Partnership Ltd, Lewes Building Company, Mann & Son, Meinke, Mirror Mirror Boutique, Poynton-Marsh Speech Services LLC, RF Book & Associates, Security Instrument, The Starboard and Visiting Angels.

A special thank you goes to Lefty's owner D.J. Hill and his staff for hosting and assisting throughout the day. Since the event was a big hit with everyone who attended, the group hopes to make it an annual event.

The Parkinson's Education and Support Group of Sussex County provides people with Parkinson's and their caregivers with knowledge and tools to help contend with the disease. At monthly support group meetings, guest speakers address therapy and exercise, medications for Parkinson's, maintaining quality of life and other related topics. The group meets from 2 to 3:30 p.m., the first Monday of the month at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior on Bay Vista Road in Rehoboth Beach.
