Letter: Clear Space article is ‘fake news’

March 19, 2019

Well, it seems that “fake news” has finally come to Sussex County via your newspaper.

The headline of your recent article on the Rehoboth Planning Commission hearing about the proposed construction of Clear Space Theater screams “Clear Space, neighbors reach a truce on new theater” is absolutely not true. As one of the neighbors whose homes abut the proposed space, I can assure you and your readers there has been no agreement and no truce.

We remain shaken that our cottage neighborhood will turn into a commercialized zone and our homes and gardens deprived of our right to reasonable peace and sunlight.

Further, the article is so pointedly slanted toward one viewpoint that is teeters on willful misreporting. There is a code of ethics for journalists. Someone at the Cape Gazette needs to review it.
