When you see a child waiting for the school bus or walking to school, do you ever notice what he or she is wearing? lf you’re like most in our community the answer is most likely, “no.” There are also some who would say, “What they’re wearing isn’t my concern, is it?” Then there are the Clothing Our Kids volunteers who say, “Yes, I’ve noticed, and sometimes it’s sad but we’re doing something about it.”
To our volunteers: This past year you volunteers have assisted thousands of at-risk children by providing them with the shirts, shoes, hoodies, socks, etc., they need, and I know that without you these young kids might not have anything at all. But that’s just a part of what you’ve been doing. You also work to raise the revenues needed to buy new clothing; you deliver clothing packages to schools; you attend countless meetings; coordinate events; answer phones; and keep the inflow and outflow of COK’s Volunteer Center running smoothly. For all of this, I thank you very much.
To our supporters: I also want to thank our supporters at every level of giving. Your generosity has touched the lives of children who, without you, might not even have a warm coat to wear during the winter months. Whether you were a title sponsor of our golf outing, or a participant; if you were a donor, a church, a foundation or a restaurant that held a fundraising event; to everyone who has donated their time and talent, I thank you. You have helped to improve lives of those in our community who have not had the same good fortune and opportunities that many of us enjoy.
Finally, I thank you all for your kindness, for your compassion, and for helping COK bring much needed clothing to under-privileged children in our community.
The board of directors joins me in wishing our volunteers, our friends, and supporters a very happy holiday season and a blessed Christmas. We appreciate all you’ve done this past year for the kids. To learn more about COK or to donate, visit www.clothingourkids.org.
