Letter: Lewes Little League asks for contributions

October 16, 2018

The board of directors, volunteers and families of Lewes Little League would like to thank the many individuals, families and businesses that have donated so generously to our organizaon over the past few years. These donations have come from the surrounding Lewes area and beyond. Your donations have allowed the league to embark on several large projects that were needed for the safe operation of the league.

Specifically, these donations allowed our league to construct a new concession stand and press box. The new building also houses equipment and supplies needed for the operation of the league. This fantastic structure would not have been possible without your support, and now adds to the beauty of Canalfront Park.

Lewes Little League served over 300 children from the Lewes area during the 2018 season. We are committed to providing our Little League community a safe and healthy environment for our players and families to enjoy. To this end, we have iniated the second phase of our Capital Construction Campaign.

This phase entails the replacement of field lighting on our Major League/Minor League field. Several of our light poles have become structurally unsound. The lighting provided by our current system is inadequate to properly illuminate our field.

The league has received donations from our community, but at this time we do not have the needed funds to complete the project. Our ultimate goal is to purchase and install a new lighting system before play begins for the 2019 season. To this end, we are asking for continued support from our community.

There are several ways to help our league in obtaining our goal. Over the past few years, Lewes Little League has conducted a memorial brick campaign. Many individuals, families, and organizations have contributed to our capital campaign by purchasing a memorial brick. These bricks have been laid in a place adjacent to our new concessions stand. We would love to expand this pad, and memorial bricks are still available to purchase.

Contact lewesll@gmail.com to purchase a brick. Interested parties also can make a monetary donation to the Lewes Little League Foundation. We are a tax-deductible, 501c3 organization. Interested parties can also contact lewesll@gmail.com for information regarding a donation to our foundation.

Thank you for your continued support of Lewes Little League.

president, Lewes Little League
