Letter: Maybe bicycles should be licensed

May 24, 2019

The state of the highways in lower Delaware is about 15 years behind the house construction times. The legislators in Dover this session decided that over $20 million in taxpayer dollars will go toward bike lanes and bridges.

I do not begrudge the bike community’s power in Dover, but someone needs to see to the bigger picture.

The State of Hawaii has licensed bikes since the end of World War II and the fees paid to the state cover most of the cost of bike lanes. I just want everyone to pay their fair share.
