Letter: Newcomer warns of effects of unbridled development

January 15, 2019

My family and I have recently moved to Lewes from New Jersey and we love it here.

The people are kind and considerate, the environment is beautiful, and there is much to offer all.

I do have one concern, however, and that is the amount and pace of development. There seems to be too much, too fast, in my humble and respectful opinion.

I would implore the state and local officials to review/revise their laws, policies and procedures regarding new construction.

It was eye-opening to see in the Cape Gazette just how many new building projects are in the works.

The latest example: a Royal Farms at Five Points in Lewes. Really? How many Wawas and Royal Farms does this area need? It is simply unnecessary.

Coming from a lifetime in New Jersey, I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that the unchecked development will have a negative effect in all facets of the quality of life for those residing in the area.
