Letter: Overfalls appreciates restaurants’ support

April 9, 2019

The Overfalls Foundation, owner of the Lightship Overfalls and its related museums, would like to thank two local restaurants for supporting our mission by hosting fundraising events during the winter months.

Diego’s Hideaway in Rehoboth held a fun music evening in February where Overfalls members had a chance to make new friends in Rehoboth and introduce the Lightship to potential new members and volunteers. Diego’s generously donated a percentage of the income from the evening to our cause.

Irish Eyes Restaurant and Pub in Lewes hosted a festive Mardi Gras give-back night in early March.  Masks and beads and tasty Creole food made for a happy time for all the patrons.

Again, new friends were made and the restaurant owners donated a percentage of their income for the preservation of the Lightship and enhancement of its educational programs.

Spring will soon give way to summer and the major Overfalls event Light Up the Night opening gala which takes place on May 24 in Lewes (information at overfalls.org). Thanks to the generosity of these restaurant owners, the Overfalls Foundation will be looking forward to an exciting summer season welcoming many thousands of visitors eager to learn about lightships and the maritime history of our region.
