Letter: Pooches in the Park a huge success

May 24, 2019

What a glorious afternoon it was in Lewes Canalfront Park May 18.  The 7th Annual Pooches in the Park was a huge success, with so many people filling the park, most with four-legged family members, enjoying a fun, picture-perfect day.

Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park thank all those who joined us for a pawsitively good time.  Our appreciation also goes to the 24 local exhibitors that included those for pet-related goods, services and canine volunteer groups. Agility, obedience, training, dog behavior and CRP demonstrations thrilled everyone in attendance, and allowed attendees to try their hand at these skills as well. And pups received goodies to take home to enjoy with their humans!

This event was free to the Cape community because of the support of our sponsors and volunteers. We are indebted to our lead sponsor Savannah Animal Hospital which not only helped to underwrite the event, but provided its cheerful and competent staff for planning and implementation.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the Cape Gazette, Gateway Subaru, Jack Lingo Realtor, PetSmart, Only Natural Pet, PUPS Pet Shop of Lewes, the Issel family, the Tugend/Fischbach family and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park for their support.
Assistance from the City of Lewes, the terrific Tentations team of the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, the Lewes Historical Society, Barry Boright, Barry Schneider and volunteers from Savannah Animal Hospital and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park was invaluable in making this such a successful event in our beautiful city park.   Please join us in Canalfront Park for the 2019 season of other free events, including movies, concerts, a play, and weekly yoga and Zumba.
