Letter: Thanks to all who participated in H4H tourney

January 8, 2019

Thank you to all who worked to make a successful day in memory of Amanda Haxton at the H4H indoor tourney raising funds for the H4H scholarships and for the Easter Seals Rehab Center in Georgetown, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 22-23. Thank you to all the teams (12) and individuals (approximately 120) that expended their energy playing the game - from upstate to downstate and beyond.

A special thank you to our volunteer umpires who gave their time to make sure the games were played safely: Marcella Sabbagh, Lori Sapp, Sommer Dorman, Staci Spicer, Madi Irwin, Abby Kane and LeeLee Wilson. And thanks to the volunteers who manned registration and the raffle booth, and the chairperson of the event, Danielle Renken Roach. Apologies to any I have missed in the above list.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Kids’ Ketch in Lewes, Ronny’s Garden World in Smyrna, The Factory Sports in Lewes, Arena’s Café in Lewes, Dorman Custom Apparel in Milton, the Jason Anderson Foundation in Lewes, and Johnson Orthodontics in Rehoboth Beach.

All of the sponsors can be found on the Delaware Shore website with active links to their individual home pages. Thank you to Nicola Pizza in Rehoboth Beach, Surf Bagel in Lewes, Olive & Oats in Lewes, and SoDel Concepts for their donations to our raffles.

Special recognition goes to Danielle Renken Roach, chairperson of H4H, who did a great job of planning for this 13th annual event. Thanks also to Dan Cook for his press coverage and photographs, and to Eric Gooch for his candid photos.

Finally, thanks to the setup crew spearheaded by many of the Delaware Shore families, who spent their pre-dinner time setting up the gym.

And to the custodial crew at Milton Elementary School for all their help and assistance (Zach Hall, Doug Mast, Mike Bunting, Joe Austin, and Chad Clendaniel). My apologies if I missed anyone on this crew!

You all are so special and have the Haxton spirit.

Congratulations to the Class of 2019 H4H scholarship winner: Lacy Bayley of Polytech High School. Lacy will be attending Slippery Rock University and will be part of the field hockey program.

Ike Eisenhour
executive director, Delaware Shore Field Hockey
