Letter: Thanks for supporting Community Caring

January 22, 2019

On behalf of the Cape Henlopen school board members, Superintendent Bob Fulton, and the Cape Henlopen School District family, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who supported our Community Caring Holiday Program.

The Cape Henlopen community collected over 500 pillows, pillow cases and blankets, over 350 pairs of pajamas, over 750 bags of gifts for students and families, multiple sleeping bags and hundreds of coats, combined with numerous hours of volunteer service.

The mission of this project is to provide gifts to students and families in need. We can only reach our goal with the help of a wonderful and generous community. We would like to thank the following local businesses, churches and organizations for their commitment to the students of Cape Henlopen School District: St. Edmond Catholic Church, Epworth Church, CHEF (Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation), MOMs Club of Coastal DE, Lewes Lions Club, Unitarian Universalists church, Nassau Grove HOA, Milton Public Library, Sussex Family YMCA, Atlantic Millwork, Village Improvement Association, Mariner Middle School Honor Society, RISE Fitness, Built., Town of Dewey Beach, Nicola Pizza, Salon H2O, Blue Moon, Donna Reed Team, Girl Scout Troop 316, Girl Scout Troop 454, Girl Scout Troop 35, Baker Petroleum, Holy Spirit Anglican Church, Delaware State Police: Troop 7, Debbie Reed Team, Lanikai Wellness Studio, VFW, C&B Complete Restoration, Cape Henlopen District Office and Fred Thomas Building, Fuel Youth Group (Bethel UMC), Johnson Orthodontics, Millman’s Appliances, Beebe Radiology, Harry K Foundation, Harry Caswell Plumbing, Cape Henlopen Alumni, La Vida Hospitality Group, Women of the Moose, Tarpon, Beta Beach Sorority, Ruby Tuesdays BINGO, Big Fish Charitable Foundation, Preston Automotive and so many more.

There were over 100 individuals and families that supported a student and their family this year. Sponsoring a family includes a great responsibility of buying, wrapping and delivering gifts. These gifts have a positive impact on our Cape families in a way that helps support our students’ academic, physical, social and emotional well-being. It is very rewarding for our district to have your support in assisting the young members of our community.

We are so grateful that people are sympathetic to the disheartened situations in which many families find themselves. This year we helped a range of children from infants to seniors in high school. Together we helped to provide a happy holiday for over 350 Cape students from approximately 125 families. It is heartwarming to witness the overwhelming kindness our community displays.

If you’re interested in supporting our students in need on a year-round basis, find us on Facebook @Capecommunitycares.
