Letter: We need to look out for own interests first

January 18, 2019

I write in response to a letter from Mr. Peter Schott, dated Jan. 11: Wise up, Mr. Schott. There is quite a bit of difference between a wall constructed by a communist (leftist) government in order to keep their people prisoners, and a wall of protection built by a free people to keep themselves safe from those who would illegally invade our nation.

Also, quite a bit of difference between “restricting voting rights” and requiring people to provide ID to vote, for the purpose of curtailing voter fraud.

Quite a bit of difference in true “scientific research” and cooking numbers to obtain a desired outcome for political purposes.

“Education should not be attainable?” Who exactly is saying that? There is quite a difference between a poem affixed to a statue by a community group, and an immigration policy that benefits our country.

And who cares if some other countries “condemn” us for “trying to go it alone?” It’s about time that our foreign policy looked out for American interests first.
