Lewes Artists Studio Tour set Sept. 18

September 15, 2021

The long-standing Lewes Artists Studio Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18. A group of 16 regionally known artists and artisans will display their work at 14 different locations, some new on the tour. The tour offers a unique opportunity to visit with numerous artists in their studios and see their work that will be available for purchase from each artist.

The day-long tour is free of charge. Masks may be required in some of the studios.

The studios are all within a short radius of downtown Lewes, making it easy to see many of the artists’ studios during the day. Several of the artists on the tour will host one or more guest artists. There will be free raffles at each artist’s venue, and drawing will be held at the end of the day at each studio.

Artists include: Mary Louise Lauffer with sterling silver jewelry and mixed media; Joan E. Fabbri, watercolors; Betsy Von Dreele, fiber collages; Jean Doran, local scenes in oil and acrylic; Marta Nammack, photography; Bev Harrington, silversmithing and glass artistry; Bonnie S. White,  acrylics and watercolors; Nina Mickelsen, acrylics, mixed media printmaking and shell photography; Leslie Delmege McDonald, watercolors; Judy Demeno, pottery; Fred Dylla, white-line woodcut prints; Theresa Kehrer, botanical art and botanical-inspired wearable accessories; Jeff Watson, pottery; Sarah Pavlik, art quilts and mixed media; Marilyn Nugent, lamp worked beads; and Ruth Ann Kaufman, water media.

Patrons return each year to check out new works by some of their favorite artists/artisans, as well as meeting new ones. They enjoy talking with the artists, learning about their process and what inspires them in their creations. Being allowed into an artist’s studio is a unique experience that can be shared.

Brochures with artist locator maps are available at many galleries, the Lewes Public Library and Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
