Lewes author Irene Fick wins national award for poetry book

April 17, 2019

For her book, “The Wild Side of the Window,” Irene Fick of Lewes has received the national first-place award from the National Federation of Press Women in the chapbook of poetry category.

The federation also awarded first place to Fick’s poem, “Off Season” in the single poem category. The poem was published in October 2018 by Mojave River Review.

Both the book and the poem received first-place awards earlier this year from the Delaware Press Association, a chapter of NFPW.

Fick’s book was published in June 2018 by Main Street Rag Publishing in Charlotte, N.C., and is available at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach Books in Bethany Beach, or online at www.mainstreetragbookstore.com.

Fick is a member of the Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild and Coastal Writers, where she participates in a weekly critique group, leads poetry free writes, and reads both her poetry and prose at the guild’s monthly Night of Songs and Stories.
