Lewes contractor fails to show for arraignment

November 28, 2018

A Lewes contractor accused of home improvement fraud failed to show for his scheduled arraignment Nov. 13.

A $4,000 cash capias for Sergio Izzo, 32, was issued by Delaware Superior Court Commissioner Alicia Howard.

Izzo has been charged by Delaware Department of Justice with four counts of theft, two counts of issuing a bad check, two counts of home improvement fraud, two counts of unlawful use of a payment card, two counts of second-degree forgery, two counts of criminal impersonation and one count of providing false statements to hinder an investigation.

The department’s Consumer Protection Unit began investigating Izzo after receiving claims that Izzo, doing business as Izzo and Son Turf Company in Long Neck, accepted payment for home improvement work but did not complete the work or refund money to homeowners.

Court records show Izzo had previously faced charges of theft from a senior citizen but failed to make a scheduled court appearance, resulting in a $100,000 capias being issued.

Homeowners who believe they may have a similar complaint about Izzo or Izzo & Son Turf Company, LLC, or have information to share with authorities, are asked to contact DOJ Special Investigator Dan Daly at 302-752-3215.
