The Col. David Hall DAR Chapter in Lewes presented its annual JROTC DAR Award to Cadet Lindsey Hamlett during the awards program held May 13 at Cape Henlopen High School.
Hamlett was selected by the senior military program instructor to receive this distinguished honor. The JROTC DAR Award recognizes a junior or senior cadet in a secondary school JROTC program for outstanding ability and achievement. The award consists of a scholarship, medal and certificate.
To qualify for the award, recipients must demonstrate loyalty and patriotism and have earned a record of military and scholastic achievement in the JROTC program. Eligible cadets must rank in the upper 25 percent of both their JROTC and academic classes and exhibit dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of JROTC training.
