Lewes day-campers to mix art with history Aug. 26-28

August 12, 2019

Registration is still open for the Lewes Historical Society’s Historic Arts, Activities and Adventures Camp set for 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 26 to 28, at the society’s campus on Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes.

Campers ages 10 to 12 will view the First State’s first town through the eyes of three famed artists who were inspired by Lewes’ unique maritime history. Attendees will experience hands-on arts and crafts, and historic lessons during each half-day of camp. Howard Schroeder, Jack Lewis and Howard Pyle will be the influential local artists as campers study self-portraiture, plein air painting and impressionism.

Participants will take home masterpieces of their own as well as a 2019 T-shirt. Cost per camper is $150. For more information or to register, go to www.historiclewes.org.
