Lewes Historical Society offers art and antiques Feb.11

January 23, 2012

For those who are looking for that special Valentine's Day gift, the Lewes Historical Society will host an antiques and art sale Saturday, Feb. 11.

The Lewes Historical Society Valentine’s Antiques Sale will be an antique-lover's paradise. Held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rabbit’s Ferry House, the sale will feature antiques and collectibles, jewelry and classical furniture and more for the buyer or that special someone.  The Rabbit's Ferry House is in the Historical Complex, 110 Shipcarpenter St. near downtown Lewes.

The day also offers an opportunity to buy local, original artwork during Valentine’s weekend.  A purchase of the original artwork of Matthew Mack, provided by the artist's son, Robert Mack, will support the society in honor of its 50th anniversary in 2012.

Artist Matthew Mack (1920-2011) was a resident of Lewes from 1975-2009 and enjoyed painting local coastal scenes. He was also a World War II Veteran.  His works in watercolor and oil will be shown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ryves Holt House in historic Lewes, corner of Second and Mulberry streets. The artwork will also be available at the Ryves Holt House during the three-day Presidents Weekend, Feb. 17 through 20.
