Lewes Historical Society online courses to start Feb. 17

The Lewes Historical Society, known for its focus on education, will begin offering nine online courses to the community at 10 a.m., Wednesdays, Feb. 17, continuing to April 14, via Zoom.

The classes will be led by seven different teachers from the society staff and qualified volunteers.

The cost to attend each class is $25, or the option to purchase all nine segments is available for $175. To register, go to historiclewes.org.

James Abbott will lead That Looks So Familiar: The Architecture of Lewes Feb. 17.

Ann Shafer will present City/Country: Reflections on the American Scene Through the Fine Art of Printmaking Feb. 24. 

James Abbott will present Elected Pomp: The Tastes of Our Presidents March 3.

Abigail Davis will be the instructor March 10 for Viral Vessels & Medical Mitigation at the Delaware Breakwater Quarantine Station.

Jose Marcos Salaverria will facilitate the March 17 class, Escape from Enslavement: Journey to Freedom in the Delmarva Region Prior to 1850.

James Abbott will present SAFE: A History of American Preservation March 24.

Denise Clemons will teach How Cookbooks Tell Our History March 31.

Andrew Lyter will present the April 7 class, Going Among the English Sailors: American Tars Serving in the Royal Navy, 1813.

Bill Meehan will lead the April 14 class focusing on John J. Raskob’s elaborate library at Archmere.
