Lewes Historical Society Summer Craft Fair set July 14

July in Lewes means the Summer Craft Fair hosted by The Lewes Historical Society. The Summer Craft Fair is set Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Lewes Historical Society, 110 Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes. Admission will be $5 per person; children under 12 are free. Proceeds from this event will benefit educational and preservation programs at The Lewes Historical Society.

With its wealth of historical sites, museums, unique shops, restaurants and pristine beaches, Lewes is an exciting destination for craft buyers and visitors alike. The Lewes Summer Craft Fair is well known for the exceptional quality of the craftspeople, including new and returning artists from across Delmarva and the Eastern Shore. This year, there will be over 60 talented artisans exhibiting a variety of media ranging from metalwork to woodworking. Indulge in delicious food and cool treats. Highlighted as the 2018 Summer Craft Fair Featured Artist is Pamella Bounds-Seemans.

Milton native Bounds-Seemans is known for her acrylic paintings surrounded by collage borders and hand-painted frames. She moved to Rehoboth Beach to become an artist in 1973. She dyed her hair magenta before it became a trend and devoted herself to painting, earning herself the title of Purple Painter Lady. She received an MFA in painting from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She is a Delaware Division of the Arts fellowship recipient and won Best Artist from Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Va. Her works are owned and displayed around the world, including at the Tideline Gallery in Rehoboth Beach. The subjects of her paintings include numerous versions of landmark locations throughout Delaware, from du Pont homes in the north to Rehoboth Beach shops in the south.
