Lewes Lions to offer free vision screenings June 5

Stop by the library to make an appointment
May 22, 2019

The Lewes Lions Club will conduct free vision screenings for adults ages 55 and older, from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Lewes Public Library, by appointment only. To make an appointment, stop by the library or call 302-645-2733.

The Lewes Lions Club vision screening team will be onsite and screening for vision problems. The screenings are painless, non-invasive and fast. A printed report is provided for each person screened with either a “pass” or “refer” report. This eye screening is not intended to be a complete eye exam, like those performed by an eye doctor.

Some 80 percent of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. The first step to prevention is awareness. The second is early detection through vision screening. Around the world, Lions Clubs partner with medical professionals and community leaders to screen young children, primary school students, and adults to identify those at risk for vision loss. The venue for Lions Clubs vision screenings varies from schools, to workplaces, to community health fairs. Screening methods depend upon the age group. The results are always the same. Early detection leads to timely referral, professional treatment, and improved or restored sight.

The Lewes Lions Club is always looking for members. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month, September through June at Fish On restaurant in the Villages of Five Points, Lewes. For more information, contact Lloyd Schmitz at leweslionsclub@gmail.com.
