A Lewes man faces charges Feb. 16 after police say he threatened his girlfriend with a gun.
Police were called at 11:20 p.m. to a home in the the 32000 block of Spruce Court, Angola by the Bay, for a report of a physical domestic involving a weapon, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.
When police arrived at the home, Jaffe said, Christopher B. Lare, 28, was standing inside the front door. Police found Lare with a Glock magazine containing two rounds of 9mm ammunition, and they took him into custody without incident, Jaffe said.
Before police arrived, Jaffe said, Lare and his 32-year-old girlfriend were in a fight in which Lare physically assaulted her. Lare grabbed the victim’s loaded Glock 43 semi-automatic handgun which she keeps in the residence and he threatened her with the weapon, Jaffe said. Lare then removed the magazine from the handgun and proceeded to unload the rounds before police arrived at the home, Jaffe said.
The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident and declined medical treatment at the scene, she said.
Lare was transported to Troop 7 where he was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, due to prior violent crime or felony, strangulation and aggravated menacing. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $13,000 secured bond.
