Lewes Masons award scholarships to two Cape seniors

May 30, 2020

The Jefferson Lodge Committee for the Ronald W. Clark Educational Scholarship, headed by Past Master Walter Hopkins, received a number of scholarship applications from qualified students.

This year, the Masons awarded two scholarships of $1,000 each to outstanding young women from Lewes. Both are not only exemplary students and athletes, but demonstrate leadership and activism in their community. Lodge members wish them both well.

Alexandra “LeeLee” Wilson is active in the Cape High Leo Club and National Honor Society. She founded the Muscle Movement Foundation to help local people fighting muscle diseases. She plays lacrosse and field hockey, and was named Academic All-American for both sports. With all this, she still makes time to coach junior field hockey teams and hold a part-time job.

LeeLee will be attending her dream college, the University of Mary Washington. She intends to pursue a degree in early childhood education, which combines her desire for helping others with her love of working with younger children.

Kelsey Huling has been very involved in community service activities, including cheer coaching, the state park fantasy trail and the Beebe expo, logging more than 90 hours of public service. She has demonstrated strong leadership and determination throughout her school career. Kelsey is also passionate about softball and plans to play during college. She will attend Cabrini University in Pennsylvania with an eye toward a degree in political science.
