Lewes P.E.O. chapter sponsors scholarship recipient

September 20, 2020

Rebeca Carmona, a Middletown resident, recently received a $3,000 grant under the Program for Continuing Education from P.E.O. International. She was sponsored by P.E.O. Chapter L in Lewes. PCE is a need-based grant program providing one-time financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted. Scholarship funds will help them return to school to complete a degree or certification that improves their marketable skills for employment to support themselves and/or their families.

Carmona plans to complete an MBA in business technology in July 2021. She earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering in 2009. She is currently employed full time at Xylem Solutions as a business development specialist.

Carmona is married with two young children, and her husband has a serious health issue that prevents him from working. As sole family support, she seeks a management position that includes a salary increase and less travel so she can better respond to her family’s needs.

P.E.O. Chapter L in Lewes is proud to have sponsored Rebeca for a PCE grant. As a STEM professional, she has continued with her career and education during these most difficult times.

There are approximately 6,000 local PEO chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly 240,000 active members. Chapter L, Lewes was organized in May 1999.
