Lewes Senior Activity Center re-elects board members

Lewes Senior Activity Center announced that Sue Elliot, Cheryl Buxton and John Walker were re-elected to serve on the board of directors at the annual members meeting June 9.

Elliot, who has served three years on the board, will begin her second term. She has been an active center volunteer for five years and previously served on several boards in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She has a master’s degree in human resources, and before retiring in Lewes had a 30-year career in administration at the University of Maryland.

Buxton is also beginning her second three-year term. She has been an active center volunteer for five years. As a board member, she has served on the membership and strategic planning committees. She is a retired registered nurse with a master’s degree in nursing management.

Walker is beginning his third term. A volunteer at the LSAC for eight years, he has served as board secretary for the past three years and center treasurer for the prior three years. An Army veteran, he had a 23-year career with IBM before retiring.

Located at 32083 Janice Road in Lewes, the center promotes health and wellness for individuals 50 or older, offering fitness and exercise classes, arts and crafts classes, social get-togethers, affordable travel, and community service opportunities for its members.
