Lewes Senior Activity Center thanks volunteers

Facility now open five days a week with limited in-person classes back on schedule
April 23, 2021

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a trying year for all facilities providing services to senior citizens in the Cape Region. The Lewes Senior Activity Center set aside the morning of April 21 to honor its volunteers for their efforts during the pandemic by giving out coffee and treats during a drive-thru event at the center on Janice Road.

The center was shut down March 16 to Aug. 10, 2020, impacting its more than 1,000 members. The center has provided drive-thru meals to celebrate holidays. As restrictions start to ease somewhat, the center is now open at 30 percent capacity from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday. Some in-person classes, with limited registration, started again this past week. For more information, go to lewesseniorcenter.org.
