Lewes student Mia Jaoude heads Worcester Prep for a day

August 27, 2019

Worcester Prep student Mia Jaoude of Lewes acted as head of school May 30.

Her parents purchased the Head of School for a Day at the school’s yearly gala and fundraising auction in March.

As head of school, Mia allowed all students in prekindergarten through 12th grade to wear casual clothing instead of uniforms if they donated $1 to her favorite charity. In doing so, she raised more than $440 for National Geographic Animal Rescue.

A fourth-grader at the time, Mia’s busy schedule was filled with leadership meetings, visiting classrooms, touring campus, doubling recess times, treating teachers to donuts, granting pardons to tardy students and eating lunch with her best girlfriends in her new office.

As a special treat for her fourth-grade peers, Mia gave an endangered species slide presentation, followed by a night without homework.
