Lewes stylist brings services to you

Mobile hair salon caters to local clients
February 27, 2020

Lewes residents in need of a cut and color no longer need to leave their homes, thanks to a new mobile hair salon.

Stylist Lisa Dickinson has worked at Roots Salon, formerly on Savannah Road, for more than two years. When that building recently sold, Roots moved to Coastal Highway, close to Atlantic Liquors.

“After a client in town expressed concerns about driving on the highway, I told her I’d come to her house to do her hair,” Dickinson said. “It worked out well and gave me the idea to start a mobile business.”

After more than 20 years as a stylist, Dickinson said she knew she could run her own business. She specializes in short, precision cuts for men and women, as well as foil highlights, all-over color and soft beach-waves perms.

Dickinson said her new mobile salon is perfect for people looking for convenience as well as clients in hospitals or rehabilitation centers, or homebound due to injury or recovery.

“I’m doing the hair of a client who lives in the Plantations,” Dickinson said. “She liked the idea of staying in her house in comfy clothes and slippers and not leaving her cat.”

Dickinson lives in Lewes, and she hopes to have enough in-town clients that she can walk or bike to their homes, the way she used to commute to Roots.

“My goal is to have clients within a 5-mile radius, either in-town Lewes or just a few miles away,” she said.

For those clients who prefer the salon experience, Dickinson still works at Roots one day a week.

“Melissa and Jess at Roots have been really nice to work with,” she said. “Their new location is beautiful and has the same feel of the Savannah Road salon, just bigger with more comfortable shampoo chairs.”

In addition to men’s and women’s cuts, Dickinson offers blowouts, coloring, highlights, perms and Brazilian blowouts in the comfort of home. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. Text Dickinson at 443-904-5484 for an appointment.
